Zikinzá Collection
This Zikinzá Collection comprises 356 of the approximately 1400 audio recordings made over a six-year period during the 1950s and 1960s by Paul Brenneker and Elis Juliana. They traveled throughout Curaçao and Bonaire, recording songs, music, stories, and personal accounts from elderly residents about everyday island life. Together, these recordings form a unique cultural and anthropological archive documenting the oral traditions, language, customs, and social history of the islands.
In 1974, the collection was transferred to the Zikinzá Foundation. Since 2010, it has been preserved and managed by NAAM (National Archaeological Anthropological Memory Management Foundation).
